Thandi Makoko

Social scientist, Thandi Makoko fulfils a powerful position on the advisory board with her knowledge of growing students,  who traditionally would have resisted education and personal development. She  has led the Youth Centre leadership for eleven years. Her dissertation for her Master’s degree provided rare insights into the holistic development of youth (up to the age of 35) with normal or troubled backgrounds.   Makoko understands the process of overcoming learning difficulties which most students have experienced in their lives to varying degrees.

Her objective has been to change mindsets, drive education and eliminate ignorance as a platform to contributing positively to  South Africa’s new and progressive economy.   With paradigm shift thinking she has pioneered fresh and successful approaches to Youth Centre development, placing emphasis on a multi-facetted and sustainable model that reaches out to youth in conflict with the law.  
The model she developed proved of value beyond this niche. Its value was validated for use with the  development of all youth in all walks of life and those entering  the business  economy.  It is this model which she has successfully tested within the Bosasa Group adding many pioneering dimensions emulated  by other organisations globally today.

She has overseen the application of her vision expand from one centre in Gauteng to nine in five provinces.
