> Jackie Leyds
Advisory Board member, Jackie Leyds brings proven eclectic academic and practical experience to the advisory board which includes social science and human resource management. In these fields she will be able to make a significant contribution. Leyds has nine years specialist experience in youth care development, a career which she has made her life’s work and passion. Working in this niche she has been able to apply her extensive empirical and action research of global models, to benchmark our local youth centres. With focus on youth in conflict with the justice system she has a national reputation for holistic rehabilitation. Described as a big picture thinker, Leyds is able to anticipate socio political trends and drive the development of essential training programmes that go beyond youth centre environments and have application at adult level.
Leyds’ Masters Degree in Social Development (Employee Assistance Programmes) enabled a comprehensive study of current significance, which evaluated the effects of Black Economic empowerment on employees. Noting the trivialisation of soft skills and their contribution to overall production and staff morale, Leyds used this study field to pursue opportunities in the WIBL. Working on a holistic premise, (the development of body mind and soul) her approach to education actively demonstrated positive changes in student performance. Leyds’ primary study fields included a BA Social Science (Social Work) and an Honours Degree in Human Resource Development. Leyds intends to support her successes in these categories with a pending registration as a candidate doctorate in organisational behaviour.
