GRADUATIONS
> September 2010

Nothing succeeds like success. And a graduation symbolic of that success places the stamp of approval on personal achievement and company commitment to its people. On the 22nd September, forty seven graduates were capped at a ceremony, hosted by the Watson Institute for Business Leadership that celebrated their leadership programme, academic and practical achievements . The glittering capping event accompanied by the famous Handel graduation prologue, was held at the Mogale City, Silver Star Convention Centre. Three walked away with Honours: Tate Madula, Agnes Cloete (educationists from Youth Centres) and Sylvester Simelane, (Operations Director for Bosasa at Oliver Tambo Airport).
The WIBL study course is more than a six months period of intense study that leads to a certificate. It is the start of a journey that leads to personal growth, membership of the global knowledge economy and prestige for the Bosasa Group of companies and our brand locally and nationally. To CEO Gavin Watson the graduation was the embodiment of his long term vision of ever evolving leadership. “... A meeting point where attitude, influence, conviction and passion combine with renewed energy, drive and purpose”.
The WIBL has moved rapidly away from the old method of learning which rested on theory. “What can I do?” is more relevant. The question we need to ask according to Advisory Board Member, Prof. Nasser is “Can I make a difference and I can I make it fit, Also can I measure my success, in my daily work, today and tomorrow. Action learning is what sets us apart from the new world of study. We learn, we test our knowledge in our own departments, we measure, we adjust and we report back”. This fail proof formula, designed by the WIBL with our unique ethos in mind, has resulted in significant changes in leadership patterns for our graduates. We wish them continued success and a pathway to learning that never ceases.
